Kwanzaa is celebrated from December 26 – January 1, 2027. Created in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Karenga, it is a week-long celebration of African American culture, family and community. Each day is dedicated to one of the seven principles, the Nguzo Saba: Umoja (unity), Kujichagulia (self-determination), Ujima (collective work and responsibility), Ujamaa (cooperative economics), Nia (purpose), Kuumba (creativity) and Imani (faith). An eCardToon Kwanzaa card lets an animated character greet your loved one by name and share a message rooted in those values.
We're designing respectful, vibrant scenes centered on the kinara and its seven candles, three red, three green and one black, along with harvest fruits and the colors of the celebration. The goal is a card that feels joyful and true to the holiday's meaning. We're also imagining a family gathered around the kinara as a child lights the candle for the day, and a festive community table set for the Karamu. Each card is designed to celebrate heritage with dignity and warmth.
Because each day highlights a different principle, you could send a card on the day that best fits your message: Umoja for a family reunion, Kuumba for a creative friend, or Imani for someone who has kept faith through a hard year. Families can also use a card to reach relatives who can't attend the Karamu feast. A greeting like 'Joyous Kwanzaa' alongside a few personal words fits easily in 50 words. Educators and community organizations may also want to recognize individual students, volunteers or elders during the celebration. A personal card that names them and connects to one of the seven principles can be a thoughtful way to honor their contributions to the community.
Cards are ready within minutes and delivered by email with a private link that plays on phones and TVs. You can download the video in phone or widescreen format, and you'll see the exact script before checkout.
